Gods People?

Preterists say that Israel blew it by denying Christ was the Messiah and so God took back His choice of Israel is "God's People" and replaced them with the "Church" ... the ramifications are that the Olivet Discourse was fulfilled in 70 AD and we've been in the Kingdom since.  This is commonly known as "Replacement Theology."

Evangelicals teach that Israel remains God the Father's chosen people (thus orienting Tribulational Eschatologoy) and that the Church has been grafted in due to having recognized the Messiah.  But so, obviously, the Church will be spared suffering the time of "Jacobs Trouble" by Rapture of the Church arguing Christians aren't in the lineage of Jacob.  Hebrews are the bride of God the Father as promised in the Old Testament.  The Church is the Bride of Jesus (God the Son) as promised in the New Testament.  (Incidently: Where's this leave the Holy Spirit?)  For the purpose of this blog I'll call this "Bridal Theology."  One bride is castigated in the tribulation the other "is not appointed to wrath."

An alternative to these -- is that there is one People of God -- All nations of men sharing a common spiritual root.  We'll call this "Adoption Theology" The Eschatology is simple:  Those alive at the time of the end, will be witnesses to the second coming of Christ.  Most of us will suffer, but as tribulation saints our reward will be more the greater.

"I will plant her for myself in the land; I will show my love to the one I called 'Not my loved one. ' I will say to those called 'Not my people,' 'You are my people'; and they will say, 'You are my God.' " Hosea 2:23
