Best & Rest

"I do my best.  God does the rest."   Hattie McDaniel  (actress, "Mammy" in "Gone with the Wind")

If control were possible through willful exertion, some would never experience pain.  There would never be a disappointment.

As contrasting alternatives go, it's startling:  Do the best at what I can and then "Rest" in the Lord.  versus Doing my best, going further, striving to perfection and then worrying, being annoyed, anticipating bitterness when I don't receive what I want.

"Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life." Mat. 6:27

This simple scripture is typical of Jesus.  Extraordinary power in the simplest of thoughts.  The answer to the question is quite powerfully life-changing.  I do what I can.  Trust the rest to Him.  The affect is to open a pathway to contentment and all of the other blessings possible in an experience of the Kingdom of God on earth.

"... my yoke is easy, my burden light"  Mat. 11:30
